Sewing Ministry of The ADOT Officially Commissioned

News & Updates

To the glory of God, the Bishop of Tema Rt. Rev’d Dr. George Kotei Neequaye and Mother
Superior (Mrs Esther Neequaye) have officially commissioned the ADOT Sewing Ministry, a professional seamstress and
tailors Ministry. This initiative forms part of the activities of the Women’s Ministry within the
Anglican Diocese of Tema (ADOT).

The aim of the ADOT Sewing Ministry is, firstly, to assist less endowed churches to have
standardized and well-designed vestments in all the liturgical colours across the diocese, and
secondly, to train and create employment opportunities for the youth within the church. The
ADOT Sewing Ministry will focus on sewing altar linens, cottas, cassocks, and other church
paraphernalia for churches within the Tema Diocese.

The group which was promoted by Dr. Mrs Mary Akweley Cobblah and fully backed by the
Bishop of Tema and Mother Superior is currently located at community 22. The premises has
been fully equipped for the smooth running of its operations. The ADOT Sewing Ministry has
several professional tailors and seamstresses from across the diocese, and they assemble
periodically to sew for the church’s use. The group is being sponsored by philanthropists who
wish to remain anonymous.

The Bishop of Tema and Mother Superior officially commissioned the premises for the project
on the 22nd of February 2025 to enable the group commence work, and to fulfill its mandate.
Bishop George applauded the promoters and sponsors for such a laudable initiative. He urged
other professional groups within the diocese to come together and to champion other similar
initiatives towards the growth of the Anglican church and creation of employment opportunities
for the youth.

He further urged other professionals within the diocese to use their talents to help
address various needs of the Anglican Churches within the Tema diocese.
