The Anglican Diocese of Tema has organized a day’s workshop on evangelism at St Stephen’s Anglican Church, aimed at equipping clergy and lay members with effective tools for mission and outreach in the contemporary world. The workshop, which brought together evangelism officers, church leaders, and interested parishioners from across the diocese, focused on strengthening the church’s evangelistic impact and deepening participants’ understanding of holistic mission. Key topics treated during the program included the history of evangelism in the Anglican tradition, modern modes of evangelism, the importance of data and database management in church growth, and the strategic role of social media in spreading the Gospel in the digital age. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, group work, and practical sessions designed to enhance their evangelistic skills.
The program was facilitated by the Internal Province of Ghana, led by the Evangelism Coordinator, Rev. Canon Benjamin Ayitey Okine. In his presentations, Rev. Canon Okine emphasized that evangelism is not merely about preaching but also about intentional discipleship, community engagement, and effective use of available technology. He encouraged participants to embrace both traditional and modern methods of evangelism, noting that while personal witness remains vital, digital platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and other social media channels offer powerful avenues for reaching a wider audience. Speaking at the event, representatives of the Diocese of Tema expressed gratitude to the facilitators and reiterated the diocese’s commitment to mission and outreach. They also urged participants to take the lessons learned back to their parishes and implement practical evangelism strategies. The workshop ended with prayers, a commitment to renewed evangelistic zeal, and a call for continuous training in mission work across the diocese
