The Diocesan Bishop of Tema, Rt Rev. George Kotei Neequaye, has met with Church Wardens and members of Parish Church Councils (PCCs) from across the diocese in a formation and orientation gathering held at St Stephen Anglican Church.
The meeting focused on deepening participants’ understanding of the foundational tenets of the Anglican Church, as well as strengthening their capacity to serve effectively in their respective parishes.
A key item on the agenda was situating the Diocese of Tema within the wider Anglican Communion. Participants were taken through the structure, identity, and global relationships that define Anglicanism, helping them appreciate their role within the broader Church.
Discussions also centered on financial governance, particularly the diocesan financial regulations. Members were guided on how assessments are determined, collected, and expended, with an emphasis on accountability, transparency, and stewardship in managing church resources.
The Bishop further outlined the roles and responsibilities of PCC members and Church Wardens, stressing their importance in supporting clergy, maintaining parish life, and ensuring the smooth administration of church affairs.
Attention was also given to the operational structure of the Church at various levels, including how deaneries and archdeaconries function within the diocese. This, he noted, is essential for fostering coordination, pastoral oversight, and effective mission across parishes.
The engagement formed part of ongoing efforts by the Diocese to equip lay leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to uphold the values, discipline, and mission of the Church in a rapidly changing environment.
