News & Updates

The Right Reverend George Neequaye, Bishop of Tema, marked the 38th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood with a solemn thanksgiving Mass at St. Stephen Anglican Church, Tema.

What made the occasion especially memorable was that the Mass was concelebrated with his ordination mates—the Rev’d Canon Fred Opare Addo of the Diocese of Long Island (USA) and the Venerable Robert Adofo, Archdeacon of Accra North-West.

In a remarkable coincidence, all three priests have at different points in their ministries, served at St. Stephen, Tema, making the parish a fitting setting for this milestone celebration.

Ordained together in 1987, the trio has each gone on to serve the Church with distinction in various parts of the Anglican Communion. Bishop Neequaye, now the first Bishop of Tema, has been recognized for his pastoral leadership and commitment to the growth of the Diocese. Rev’d Canon Opare Addo has extended his ministry to the Diocese of Long Island, while Venerable Adofo continues to serve faithfully as Archdeacon in the Diocese of Accra.

The celebration at St. Stephen drew clergy, parishioners, family, and friends who joined in offering thanksgiving to God for the lives and ministries of the three priests. The atmosphere was filled with joy, gratitude, and prayers for God’s continued blessing upon their work in His vineyard.

The day stood as a testament not only to their individual journeys but also to the enduring bonds of fellowship and shared calling that began with their ordination 38 years ago.
